Graph Modeling User Guide

12/03/2026

This user guide provides the foundational knowledge needed to navigate and operate the Graph Modeling Thesaurus Manager. It covers everything from the initial setup of your workspace to the day-to-day management of your taxonomies.

For a hands-on introduction to these features, we recommend using the Interactive Tutorials found directly in the Graph Modeling interface. These tours offer a guided walkthrough of the UI and the basic steps for building your first taxonomy.

The following topics can be found in this user guide:

  • Graph Modeling’s User Interface: A detailed look at the workspace, including the Toolbar, Main Menu, and the Hierarchy Tree. This section explains how to navigate the polyhierarchical structure of a thesaurus and how to use the Details View to manage data and visualizations.PoolParty's User Interface

  • Project Operations: Essential procedures for managing a project. This includes creating, opening, and deleting projects, as well as managing project-level metadata, statistics, and user group assignments.

  • Working with Taxonomies: Instructions for building and expanding your taxonomy "from scratch." This covers manual editing (such as adding labels, definitions, and relations) as well as automated assistance via the Taxonomy Advisor and Taxonomy Builder. It also includes practical workflows for refining your structure by using drag-and-drop to move or merge concepts and performing bulk operations to update multiple entries at once.

  • Linking Graph Modeling Projects: Methods for linking matching concepts across different projects to create a unified knowledge network.
