Proxy Configuration
21/10/2026
GraphRAG 1.3.0
Additional NGINX/proxy configurations are required to run GraphRAG properly. If a deployment includes NGINX or another proxy/load balancer, it must be configured to handle Server-Sent Events (SSE) and WebSockets correctly.
Without proper streaming setup, answers to a question will not be transmitted incrementally to the frontend. As a result, the user will not see any progress while waiting for a response. Instead, the entire answer will appear all at once only after the backend has completely finished processing. Proper streaming configuration ensures that partial results are delivered to the browser in real time, providing immediate feedback and a more engaging interaction.
SSE Configuration
For the UI to properly visualize the progress of answer generation, the NGINX/proxy must be configured for SSE. In NGINX, the following directives are required (configurations may differ for other proxy solutions):
proxy_buffering off; proxy_cache off; gzip off; chunked_transfer_encoding off;
WebSockets Configuration
n8n-based GraphRAG workflows use WebSockets for health checks. If WebSockets are not configured properly, an error will appear in the UI and users will experience difficulties publishing workflows. The additional directives for NGINX are:
proxy_http_version 1.1; proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade; proxy_set_header Connection "upgrade"; proxy_set_header Host $host;
