Setting up Authentication for Graphwise for SharePoint Administration
22/06/2026
This section describes how to set up authentication for the Graphwise for SharePoint Administration application. For an overview of the whole installation and configuration process, refer to Installation and Configuration Process.
Create an app registration for Graphwise for SharePoint Administration in Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) to manage authentication and authorization.
Graphwise for SharePoint Administration includes two modules: Tagging and Term Store Synchronization.
You can use a single app registration for both modules or create separate app registrations for each. Separate app registrations are recommended because they provide a clear separation of concerns and ensure each module is granted only the permissions it requires.
Tip
To create two app registrations, you must repeat the configuration steps described in the subsequent sections for each of them.
Alternatively, you can create an app registration with a custom PowerShell script.
For more details on how to create an app registration using the Azure portal, follow the Microsoft Azure documentation up to step 3. On the Register an application page in step 3, select the Supported account types to configure the app registration.
